7-11 transition drill

One player at the kitchen line, one at the baseline. Kitchen Line plays to 11, Baseline to 7.

Oct 12, 2026 — Paul Stroud

The 7-11 transition drill puts one player at the kitchen line and one at the baseline. The baseline player works forward with drops and resets; the kitchen player keeps them back. Kitchen Line plays to 11, Baseline plays to 7, and the first to their number wins the game.

How it is played

  • Kitchen Line starts at the non-volley line. Baseline starts at the back and has to earn the way in.
  • Rally scoring is the custom: every rally is a point for whoever wins it. The organizer sets the rules; Picklemix takes the final score.
  • Swap roles for the next game so each player gets both jobs.

In Picklemix

  • It is a Drill event for two players, chosen as the Drill Type when you create it.
  • The Games page scores the two sides as Kitchen Line and Baseline.
  • Drill games are unrated. Modifiers work as on any drill; see Drills.

Next step

Create a Drill event from the Drills list in the Event panel and pick 7-11 transition drill.
