Team Matches: 4-Person, 3-Person, and Mixed

Squads facing off across doubles lines, the mixed pairing choice, and the 21-point Dreambreaker.

A Team Match pits squads of three or four players against each other across multiple doubles lines. Matches run in Open (any gender mix) or Mixed (two women, two men) formats, either head-to-head between two teams or as a multi-team round robin.

Team formats

  • 4-Person Open (Type 40): Teams of four players in any gender mix. Played across four doubles games (two pair doubles, two cross pairings).
  • 4-Person Mixed (Type 31): Teams of two women and two men. Lines start with Women's doubles (Game 1) and Men's doubles (Game 2), followed by two Mixed doubles games.
  • 3-Person Team Match (Type 41): Teams of three players rotating partners across three doubles matches.

The 4-Person Mixed match schedule

Game Default Lineup If Swapped
Game 1: Women's Doubles W1 & W2 —
Game 2: Men's Doubles M1 & M2 —
Game 3: Mixed Doubles 1 M1 & W1 M1 & W2
Game 4: Mixed Doubles 2 M2 & W2 M2 & W1
Game 5: Dreambreaker (Tiebreaker) Played singles only if tied 2–2 after four games

The Mixed pairing choice

In 4-Person Mixed events, Games 1 and 2 are fixed by gender. Before Games 3 and 4 begin, each team chooses how to pair their mixed doubles lines (default or swapped). Who locks their pairing choice first alternates between rounds.

The Dreambreaker tiebreaker

If a match finishes tied 2–2 after four games, the tie is broken by a Dreambreaker: a singles game where team members rotate in every four points until a team reaches 21, win by 2.

Multi-team round robins and divisions

  • 3 or more teams: Teams play a round robin against every other team in listed order. Standings rank teams by Match Wins, then Game Wins, then Point Differential.
  • Two divisions: Teams are split into two groups, each playing its own round robin. The division leaders meet in a championship Final match.
